Lent 2019 Day 24 Job Chapter 26

The three friends of Job have finished their speeches and Job says about them, "“How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength? How have you counseled one who has no wisdom?" His friends have failed.

Job then tells his friends what he KNOWS about God.

GOD HAS POWER OVER THE GRAVE, "Sheol is naked before Him, And Destruction has no covering." The word translated Destruction is the Hebrew word Abaddon. Revelation 9:11, "And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

GOD HAS POWER OVER THE CREATION: "He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing...He drew a circular horizon on the face of the waters, At the boundary of light and darkness. The pillars of heaven tremble, And are astonished at His rebuke."

GOD HAS POWER OVER THE STORMS: "He stirs up the sea with His power, And by His understanding He breaks up the storm.

There are a lot of things that Job knows about God, but he confesses, "Indeed these are the mere edges of His ways, And how small a whisper we hear of Him! But the thunder of His power who can understand?" In other words, this is just a small glimpse of God's power. All Job KNEW was the EDGES of God's power. Who could possibly know the fullness of God's power?

In Matthew chapter 9 we are told of a woman who had a blood disease for twelve years. She did not fully comprehend the complete power of God, but she KNEW that if she only touched the edge of Jesus' cloak she would be healed. Maybe the edges of God's power is sufficient enough for us as well.
