Lent 2019 Day 31 Job Chapter 33

Elihu tells Job, in verse 13, "Why do you contend with Him? For He does not give an accounting of any of His words." These words are hard to hear when you are going through suffering. When suffering, or when a loved one is suffering, we want answers. We are bold enough to contend with God and as Him, why bad things happen to good people? Why do young children get cancer and die? Elihu is right, God does not OWE anyone an answer, including Job. But that is when GRACE comes in.

Verse 14 says, "For God may speak in one way, or in another, Yet man does not perceive it." Even though God does not OWE anyone an aswer for what He does, through His GRACE, God does speak to us. The problem is, man does not perceive God speaking. How man ways does God speak to us, and yet we do not perceive it? God can speak through a song playing on the radio. God and speak through reading His Holy Word. God can speak many ways through nature.

Hebrews 1:1-4 tells us, "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they." The most power WORD of God was His one and only begotten Son. And yet man did not perceive it.

The TRUTH is that God does not OWE anyone and answer for why things happen. But God is Gracious to us and desires to speak to us. God is speaking, but the world is loud and it is drowning out the voice of God.  God is speaking, but we are too busy with our own schedule to stop and listen to God's voice. Take times these last nine days of the Season of Lent to listen to God speaking to you.
