Lent 2019 Day 32 Job chapter 34

Elihu says in verses 14-15, "If He should set His heart on it, If He should gather to Himself His Spirit and His breath, All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust."

Depending what translation you are using adds different meanings to this message. I quoted the NKJV, and as you can see Spirit is capitalized. What if God decided in his heart to remove the Holy Spirit from the earth? The church would be lost withouth the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit is suppose to guide us into all truth. There could be no Salvation without the Holy Spirit, because it is the Holy Spirit that convicts man of sin. The Holy Spirit helps us when we do not know how to pray. That would be gone.

Some have interpreted 2 Thessalonians 2:7, as the removal of the Holy Spirit before the Anti-Christ is revealed. " For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way." If it is true that the Holy Spirit is taken away, will the church be taken with him? The church would be Spiritually dead without the Holy Spirit, Could there be salvation during the Tribulation if the convicter of sin was removed?

Most other translations of Job 34: 14-15 just use the word spirit, without capitalization. In Genesis 2:7, God breathed  into man the breath of life. God is the giver and sustainer of life.  It is clear that even our very breath belongs to God. This was the one thing that Satan was not allowed to take from Job. If God wanted to, he could cause the breath that he breathed into man, to return to him and man would die.

If God desired to remove His Spirit/spirit, It is either a Spiritual death or a physical death. David in Psalm 51:10-11, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me." That should be our prayer during the Season of Lent.

What did righteous people do before the Holy Spirit came? Did they have to go before a priest/rabbi to have the priest plead their case before God? Daniel spent hours in prayer every day - not in hiding. Did his prayers reach heaven? I cannot imagine life without the Holy Spirit!
