40 Days of Service Day 14

Morning Prayer: Lord, how can I serve you today?

Scripture: Romans 6:19-23

The word “Slave” carries a negative connotation. We would rather be referred to as an employee instead of a slave. An employee has rights, a slave has no rights. A slave was property. And the master was more than just a boss, he was the owner of the property. Paul says, “you used to be slaves to sin…” Sin was your master, it had control over physical body. But by God’s grace you have been set free. What are you going to do with this new-found freedom? The sad news is most will find themselves enslaved to sin again.

But Paul has an alternative to becoming a slave to sin again. Instead, offer yourself as a slave to God. Allow Him to be master over your life. God will become the owner of your physical body. As a slave to sin, you will receive wages much like an employee, “the wages of sin is death”. But as a slave of God you will receive amazing benefits, “the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.”

No one is ever really master of their own domain. You will either be a slave to sin or a slave to God.
