40 Days of Service Day 38 Maundy Thursday

Morning Prayer: Lord, how can I serve others today?

Scripture: John 13:12-17

Today is Maundy Thursday. The word Maundy comes from a Latin word meaning mandate. Jesus commanded His disciples to do as He has done. Jesus asked His disciples, “Do you understand what I have done for you?” It is impossible to do what Jesus has done for us, if we do not understand what Jesus has done for us.

In a classroom, it is understandable for students to debate about who the smartest student is. But a student is not greater than the teacher. It is understandable for servants to debate about who the hardest worker is. But a servant is not greater than his master. What has Jesus done for His disciples? The Teacher washed the student’s feet. The Master washed the servant’s feet.

This Maundy Thursday, I want you to reflect on this question, “Do you understand what Jesus has done for you?” Jesus wants you to do for others, what He has done for you. Jesus wants you to give to others in the same way that He has given to you. What has Jesus done for you?
