40 Days of Service Day 6

Morning Prayer: Lord, how can I serve you today?

Scripture: Malachi 3:13-18

There is a story of an elderly gentleman who had significant hearing loss for many years. At a visit to his doctor, he was fitted with a pair of hearing aids. The elderly man was thrilled and quite surprised that he could hear everything perfectly clear. At his one month check-up, his doctor asked him if his family was as happy as he was about his ability to hear. He responded, “I have not told them yet. I just listen to their conversations. I have changed my will three times in the past month.”

In Malachi, God heard the harsh words the people were saying about him. They did not want to serve God, because they felt it was a waste of their time. Have you ever felt that attending church was a waste of time? Have you ever felt that there were more productive things you could do with your time than reading the bible or praying?

But God also heard those who feared Him, as they were talking to each other. He wrote down their words in a scroll, to remember their faithfulness. God knows the difference “between those who serve God and those who do not.”
